There are two things we’re requiring to be part of the Festival and two recommended things you can do that we think would be cool.
Produce 44 Plays for 44 Presidents at some point during 2012. (Fall of 2012 is ideal.)
We want you to pick one President and make a recording of his scene from your production of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents, and then send it to us. Everyone will select a different president to submit, and we will edit all the scenes together into a composite, online version of 44 Plays for 44 Presidents, as performed by all of us, together.
If you have the capacity, maybe you’ll want to add some events in the spirit of the show and the Festival. You could use the President you selected as inspiration or you could use every President. You could do something about First Ladies, Vice Presidents. You could host talk-backs. Invite historians. Create or host events that promote civic participation. This can be anything in any medium.
We’d love it if you could do something on Election Night so we can all be doing something at the same time. You can simply make sure you’re performing 44 Plays for 44 Presidents that evening. Or, you can have a special election night event about Millard Fillmore; throw a party or a fundraiser; have a potluck where you screen the composite video. Again, this can be anything.
Send us a message and tell us you want to produce the show at your venue/school in 2012. We will do a happy dance, welcome you and offer lots of help.
You’ll need to buy the rights to the show, which is handled through Playscripts. Once you buy the rights, it’s no longer a “reservation.” You’re officially “in.”
